Wira Instrumentation, the internationally known manufacturer of laboratory instruments has demonstrated its ability to produce specialised equipment to carry out a wide range of tests for which specific apparatus is not readily available.
Recent developments in this area have included a new Mattress Tester conforming to BS/EN 1975:2000 and BS 7397. The new machine incorporates the latest servo-controlled drive system, which is driven by dedicated Wira software to provide precise control and absolute repeatability in perpetual motion. The test involves the forced fatigue of a full-size mattress by simulating the motion of a human body during the normal use of the mattress. The new machine, designed and manufactured by Wira provides both the means of such fatigue, using a high speed integrated drive system as well as the high-precision measurement source, on a single test bed. The latter incorporates computer integrated digital measurement of the mattress profile before and after testing.
WIRA has also developed a new Stress Crack Apparatus, which has been developed in response to demand from the geotextile Industry. The equipment conforms to ASTM D-5397/93 for the Evaluation of Stress Crack Resistance of Polyolefin Geomembranes Using Notched Constant Tensile Load. The new equipment, designed and manufactured by WIRA, incorporates a 20-position test apparatus as well as the special Precision Notching Device, which prepares the sample according to the standard.
WIRA has added a Carpet Flammability Tester to its well-known range of Carpet Testing Equipment. The apparatus conforms to ISO 6925, BS 4790 and 6307. The equipment incorporates an enclosed testing chamber as well as a microprocessor-controlled furnace.
The company’s Electronic Fibre Fineness Meter with Windows operating interface continues to prove popular and is based on similar principles is attracting renewed attention.
