Indian textile machinery sector has stagnated in R&D: TMMA AGM
The Textile Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (India) (TMMA), Mumbai, organised its 57th Annual General Meeting on September 22, 2017 at Four Seasons Hotel, Mumbai. Dr SM Istiaque, Director, IIT, New Delhi was the chief guest for the event. R Rajendran, Chairman, TMMA, delivered the speech during the AGM.
Haryana’s skill training covers textile too
The Haryana Government’s Skill Development and Industrial Training Department is considering providing skill training to about 1,33,100 youth this fiscal as part of efforts to augment employment opportunities in the State. The sectors include garment and textiles, beauty and wellness, agriculture and retail.
ATDC signs MOU with CED
Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), India’s largest vocational training provider in apparel sector has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) with the aim of bridging the gap between the requirement and availability of skilled workforce and setting up ATDC center for training at SUC campus at Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Recently, an MoU was signed between Madhya Pradesh State Skill Development Mission (MPSSDM) and Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC)to promote skill development in Madhya Pradesh.
2 new schemes for powerloom sector
The Ministry of Textiles has proposed two new schemes - New Powerloom Credit Yojana and Solar Energy Scheme -for the powerloom sector. Disclosing this, the Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani said that these schemes are currently being examined by the government and have been introduced to help powerlooms to operate at their optimal capacities and avoid stoppages.
ITF-NSDC tie-up to train 50,000 workers
The Indian Texpreneurs Federation has signed an agreement with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to train 50,000 workers between January and December next year in 15 job roles in textile mills.

ATDC-UP sign MoU on skill development
Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM). The purpose is to advance skill sector in the state by offering 24 courses with the target to uplift 8,000 unemployed youth in the next three years in all UP centres i.e Noida, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Agra, Unnao, Lucknow, Pratapgarh, Barabanki, Barailly, Shahjahanpur, Varanasi, Ajamgarh and Kannauj.
