The Textile Machinery Division of SWISSMEM represents the interests of its 40 members. In 2015, SWISSMEM celebrated Diamond Jubilee, and over the past 75 years, its Textile Machinery Division has reached many milestones. Some of the members have become unchallenged market leaders in their segments.
Europe still dominates in textile technology, but India is no laggard. It has created its own niche. With 158 exhibitors at the present ITMA 2015, Indian textile machinery and spares industry has come a long way to spread its wings since 1975 when at the same Milan, India fielded a lone exhibitor. A pre-ITMA press meet in Switzerland I attended recently ended with a very interesting panel discussion on two issues: Today’s technology status quo and the menace of talent exodus in textile industry. The references pertained to the Swiss textile machinery industry, but I found to my surprise it reflected the sentiments of our own industry.

Swissmem is the Swiss association of mechanical and electrical engineering industries (MEM industries). Swissmem was created by the merger of two associations: ASM (Association of Swiss Engineering Employers) und VSM (Swiss Association of Machinery Manufacturers).
Chinas Swiss machinery import up 18%
The Swiss textile machinery industry, represented by the Textile Machinery Division of SWISSMEM, is strongly export-oriented and has a presence with its own companies, sales and service organisations in all the worlds key markets.
