Special Review - ITMA Innovation
Fashion & Quality theme for 8 exhibits at Mayer & Cie

Fashion & Quality theme for 8 exhibits at Mayer & Cie On an exhibition stand covering 650 square metres, the world's leading circular knitting machine manufacturer Mayer & Cie exhibited its latest machine innovations to visitors from every continent at this year's ITMA. In the information lounge, visitors to the stand were offered the opportunity to talk in depth to Mayer & Cie specialist advisors and colleagues or use the provided touch screens to access information directly on the latest status of circular knitting technology.

This lounge led to the exhibition area through an ultra-modern information terminal designed to permit visitors to experience the latest Mayer & Cie development, MDA.web (machine data acquisition), in practical operation. All the exhibited machines were interlinked and could be monitored by observers standing in the terminal. MDA.web also supplies a wide range of information and evaluation results to knitting factory management as an essential basis for the improvement of productivity and quality. The special benefit of the system is that users wishing to access the information are not limited to the in-house Intranet system: MDA.web allows information gathered in any knitting factory to be accessed via the Internet from any location around the world.

A small ramp led down to the slightly lower-level "machine room", where visitors were met by 8 exhibits representing both new and further developments. Mayer & Cie opted to make the quality aspiration its central theme at the ITMA 2007. Aptly expressed with the trade fair motto "Always in fashion - Quality!", this theme was embodied in impressive style by every one of the exhibits. The new developments on show were just as convincing for their outstanding flexibility as for their high productivity:
o The first circular knitting machine capable of being used both for single and double jersey fabrics.
o A Relanit capable of producing top-quality single jersey with full elastomer plating at 45 rpm.
o Electronic individual needle selection in the cylinder and dial cam for all structures and patterning possibilities.
o Gauges up to E 60.
o BASIC Line with additional single and double jersey models.

The list of exciting new developments on show from Mayer & Cie. at the ITMA 07 is a long one, providing a dazzling display of engineering creativity.

Bad Times Call for Tough Moves

Despite the crises gripping the world economy in all kinds of forms, the Indian Government has been reassuring the industry that the country will not be affected. This brings hardly any relief to the industry in general.
