LAP FORMAIR: New airlay technology for nonwovens

Cormatex Srl, Italy has introduced the latest in nonwoven technology, which is a new Airlay System where the aerodynamic formation of the web allows replacing the traditional mechanical processes, that use card and cross lapper, in most of the existing nonwoven applications. Thanks to an innovative Pressure Control System, this new machine is able to form a fibre web that is ready for needle punching or themobonding processes, with an extremely accurate evenness both longitudinally and across the whole width of the machine.

Performance and advantages

The extreme flexibility of Cormatex technology guarantees the production of new nonwoven products by using different kind of raw materials (traditional nonwoven fibres as well as non conventional materials such as flax, jute, sugarcane, coconut fibre, regenerated cotton, foam polyurethane, glass fibre, etc) with a very wide weight range for the final product (from around 150 grams up to 3 kilos per sq m).

No limitations on production capacity, perfect evenness and quality of the final product (far better than traditional airlay systems), extreme flexibility and low production costs are some of the most important advantages being achieved by our LAP FORMAIR machine for the modern nonwoven manufacturers.

Some applications are: Automotive ( as preformed panels, seats wadding, sound-proof and thermal insulation); Agriculture (as greenhouses and fertilization improvement in desert areas): Furnishing (as sofa, mattress, chair, armchair wadding, bed quiltings and sleeping bags, wiping cloths); Buildings and construction (as roof and wall insulation in particular with ecological materials); Soundproofing (as sound-proof panels for white industry); Insulation (as thermal insulation panels); Sanitary (as baby and lady diapers, disposables, sanitary napkins, coverstocks); Garments (as interlining supports); Packaging (as protective materials for fragile shipment).

This innovative system will be presented in running conditions at the ITMA Exhibition in Munich.
