SAHM 800 Winders for carbon fibres

From automobiles to aerospace, from sporting goods to laptop computers and musical instruments, carbon fibres are an important component in many articles of daily use. These fibres, smaller than 0.01 mm in diameter, are in relation to their diameter up to five times stronger than steel. Carbon fibre yarn, formed by twisting together several thousand strands of fibre, is used in reinforcing plastic composites in applications where lightweight and strength are essential.

For the efficient winding of these high-strength yarns, SAHM is pleased to introduce the new SAHM 800 series of winders for Carbon Fibres and PAN Precursor. All winders are equipped with a central process control and a programmable electronic wind ratio function. All winders can be programmed by parameters stored in the central process control unit. With these electronically programmable functions; customers can now make product changes without changing mechanical components of the winder. Carbon fibre and PAN Precursor producers can now make quick and efficient product changes. Down times are minimised. Normal wear-and-tear components and spare parts, and maintenance time have been greatly reduced.

The precursor, most commonly PAN (polyacrylonitrile), is the raw material used to produce carbon fibre. PAN precursor winders are available in 120 kg and 300 kg version. For carbon fibres, SAHM offers an automatic winder as well as a manual winder for precise winding of carbon fibres.

Starlinger Export GmbH, is the SAHM's Liaison Office located in India (located in Delhi).
