Dynabrade completes 5-years in India

The abrasive power tools major has completed five successful years of operations in India and is poised for further growth.

Dynabrade India Abrasive Power Tools Pvt Ltd, the subsidiary of US-based Dynabrade Inc, the specialist manufacturer of abrasive power tools, has turned five years old. Starting operations in April 2007, Dynabrade India has come to establish a modern office and training centre at Navi Mumbai. Supported by a highly motivated workforce of 15 people headed by Mr Nischal Sachdev, Managing Director, the company has developed a network of 70 partners/distributors.

Entering India in 2001 with the help of 5 distributors and then setting up a subsidiary in 2007 has seen the company achieve a rapid growth. The success in India reflects the way Dynabrade has expanded its reach globally, with 60% of the business coming from outside US, also reflecting the changing business environment the world over. Dynabrade India, apart from representing its parent company, also represents Sata of Germany (in India) for its spray painting equipment and technology, which has a strong presence in the aftermarket. It has thus come to command a high presence in the OEM as well as the aftermarket segments.

Speaking at a ceremony to celebrate Dynabrade India's five years in India, Mr Ned T Librock, president, Dynabrade Inc, said, "We are an international company, and happy to be one. India is the 7th largest country in the world in terms of turnover of the company. Dynabrade India has come a long way in a short time." The operations of Dynabrade India are supported by an application training centre that is on par with the facility at Dynabrade's headquarters in the United States of America. The company recorded a good growth even during the 2009 recession. In the year 2010, the company recorded a 49% growth, and in the year 2011, it recorded a growth of 34%. Bagging an award in the year 2009 for best performing subsidiary of Dynabrade, according to Nischal, the company also bagged the award of Sata ‘Importer of the Year’ the same year.

Talking about Dynabrade's growth in India, and in the face of changing market dynamics, Mr Sachdev averred: "With a 15 member team, Dynabrade India is small yet strong. The lean structure of the company helps it move quickly, and adapt to market changes." Working towards expanding the network to include 80 partners/distributors over the current 70, Dynabrade India, according to Nischal, has come to have partners that are highly specialised in the field.

In India, the company has divided itself into two business divisions. Industrial Division and Key Segments Division. The Industrial Division has auto A/OEMs, ancillaries, industrial markets, wind turbine, and jewellery markets under its wings. The Key Segments Division has auto aftermarket, wood market, and railways under its wings. According to Mr Nischal Sachdev, in the 'finishing' business Dynabrade India, going beyond offering the best products, has come to offer knowledge. "The company," said Mr Nischal, "has also come to promote pre-paint, paint, and post paint solutions." Stating that the tie-up with Sata helped Dynabrade India to offer 'one-stop' solution, Nischal added that the company is today in a position to offer the entire painting process solutions except paint. "Any car, or a two wheeler in India is very likely to have been polished by Dynabrade polisher," he added.

First to introduce dust free dry sanding through electrical vacuum system, the company, to stay ahead of the competition, has introduced an air-driven portable vacuum cleaner. Working closely with automakers, and automotive dealers as well as workshops, the company is helping luxury brands to offer world class standards when it comes to refinishes. Stating that it is difficult to control a painting process, or refinish at a level outside of the manufacturing plant, Mr Sachdev added, "We are providing Dynabrade and Sata solution to Toyota dealers as they convert to water-based paints in-line with Toyota's drive to 'go-green'. Commenting on competition, Mr Nischal said, "Our ability to offer complete solutions, and the right solution, without diluting our premium brand position keeps us ahead of the competition." Dynabrade India's products, remarked Sachdev, are recommended by BASF, PPG, DuPont and Akzo Nobel, among others.

Committed to rapid growth, and customer satisfaction, Dynabrade India awarded its high performing partners/distributors at the ceremony. Eiline Technologies from Delhi got the award for the distributor of the year 2011. Prime Agencies of Mumbai was awarded as the most valuable distributor of the year. Conscape Consultants, Pune, was awarded as the most valuable distributor of the year. Conscape Consultants was also awarded for ranking 7th among the top 10 distributors of Dynabrade the world over.
