Science and Technology of Man-made Fibres

"Writing a book on man made fibres and that too on its science and technology is not a simple task, without adequate exposure in these fields. I have tried my attempt on these aspects with my publications on fibres, research and review papers on man-made fibres. I have blended my industrial experience, industrial as well as academic research in this book in a simplified manner in selected chapters, particularly in rheology, extrusion, melt spinning, melt spinning technology, stretching, polyamide fibres, polyester fibres, speciality fibres and polyblend fibres," says Dr S P Mishra in His Preface to his book, 'Science & Technology of Man-made Fibres', published by Suraj Publications.
Science and Technology of Man-made Fibres, Dr S P Mishra, Suraj Publications
This book has been put as a textbook on the subject 'Man Made Fibres' in the model curriculum for B Tech in Textile Technology, prepared by Nodal Centre for Upgradation of Textile Education (NCUTE) under Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and adopted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Focusing on different aspects of production and technology of man-made fibres concisely and comprehensively, this book will be useful for textiles, textile technology, textile processing, textile chemistry, polymer science, chemical engineering and industrial chemistry students at the undergraduate as well as post graduate levels. This will serve as a reference for researchers, technologists as well as professionals engaged in any aspect of man made fibres. The main emphasis of this book includes:

  • Basic theory of spinning as well as the theory of fibre formation by melt, dry and wet spinning are discussed in a simplified manner.
  • The machinery used for fibre formation is discussed.
  • The technology and process of major commercial fibres are mentioned.
  • Newly developed or commercialised fibres are included.
  • Nano fibres, liquid crystalline fibres, thermally stable fibres, high performance fibres are highlighted in a simple manner.
  • Application of all the fibres are mentioned in the light of present day demands.
