  Global nonwoven sales hit US$ 21-bn

Sales generated by the global nonwovens industry were worth US$ 21 bn in 2010. Of this figure, sales by the leading 40 producers were valued at US$ 14.3 bn, representing about two-thirds of the total. Among the top ten players, sales ranged individually from US$ 288 mn to US$ 1.53 bn, and total sales added to just over US$ 9 bn. Nearly all of the key players -- including Ahlstrom, DuPont, Fiberweb, Freudenberg, Kimberly-Clark and Polymer Group Inc (PGI) -- were able to report significant jumps in sales in 2010 thanks to the economic recovery and rapid hikes in raw material prices.
