Dibella extends sustainable supply chain for Africa

Dibella, Germany has signed a partnership contract with “Cotton made in Africa” (CmiA) in time for the start of the Heimtextil Fair. The initiative is intended to promote a social and environmentally friendly cotton harvest in various African countries. “The cooperation is a further, integral part of our sustainability strategy which incorporates conscientious transparent production conditions and a high level of production quality” is how Ralf Hellmann, CEO of Dibella, explained the collaboration.

“Cotton made in Africa” is an initiative which represents the improvement of the living conditions for cotton farmers and their families in the sub-Sahara region of Africa. It concentrates on efficient and environmentally friendly cultivation methods and increased quality standards which will lead to, and result in, improved working and living conditions for 650,000 small farmers in ten countries. Furthermore, it also affects the ethical working conditions in the fibre processing chain. “CmiA has established itself as a credible, sustainable cotton standard for the textile branch and is perfectly suited to our product and company philosophies for sustainability criteria”, stated Ralf Hellmann.

“This partnership, which we have officially signed as part of the Heimtextil Fair, will enable us to already secure a part of the yielded cotton harvest to the end of February. The textile service and their customers in the catering, hospitality services and health industries will therefore have additional products which they can select so that they can assume more social and commercial responsibility in this field”.
Impressive down to the last fibre

The terry products, bedding and table linen commercially utilised in hotels, gastronomy and the health sector demand the highest quality standards for the goods supplied. This is an imperative prerequisite for an ecological and economical cycle management for the textiles which, on the other hand, justifies the sustainability of the textile service. CmiA cotton originates from the sub-Sahara region of Africa and has natural fibres which yield outstanding quality. “The special fibre characteristics are an additional argument for the cooperation with CmiA”, relates Ralf Hellmann. “They make it possible for every manufacturer to create more durable, finer hotel textiles which will simply win over every customer”.
