Colorjet, a leading manufacturer of digital inkjet printers for textiles, has launched its latest printer model, ´Fabjet Grand´ and ´Vastrajet´ during their participation at the recently-concluded GTTES 2015, Mumbai. The launch of ´Fabjet Grand´ and ´Vastrajet´ signals the company´s move towards capturing the market for customized textile printers across the region. The company currently operates across three key regions, which are composed of India, China and Dubai. Looking to increase its market presence in the region, Colorjet has expressed confidence in achieving 20 per cent growth in the coming year.
Gulshan Kumar, Head´Product Development, Colorjet spoke to ITJ Senior Sub Editor Karthik Muthuveeran about the company´s foray into digital printing, and their various printing technologies on offer.
Karthik Muthuveeran (KM): Give us some details about Colorjet´s beginnings and its developments over the years.
Gulshan Kumar (GK): Formed in 2004, Colorjet is the fastest growing wide format digital Inkjet print technology company in the Indian sub-continent. The company is backed by a team with extensive experience and expertise in the inkjet printing segment. Colorjet is guided by its commitment of delivering products that support a design philosophy of being economic, efficient and ecological. The company maintains its operations via low manufacturing facilities located in India and China and sales offices spread across seven countries, which include China, Sri Lanka, the UAE and India. To date, Colorjet has installed and implemented 3,750 of its printing solutions and products across 315 cities around the world backed by a strong 278 member team, of which almost 100 are in technical-related functions.
KM: How is your company doing in digital printing space?
GK: Our company has development products like Vastrajet, Fabjet Grand & Aurajet for various market segments like home furnishing and fashion apparels. Understanding the need of the market these products have been developed to cater the growing need of market based on different variety of fabric to be printed like cotton, silk, polyester, etc.
KM: What are the various printing systems & technologies you offer for the textile industry? What are their advantages over that of competitors?
GK: Colorjet has launched models like Vastrajet and Fabjet that enables the user to print directly on Fabric using various types of inks like reactive, pigment and dye sublimation inks. Colorjet is the only manufacturer that offers and sells machines as a solution, along with RIP colour management, ink usage, ICC profile and training for application development or various applications that a machine can be used for across different markets KM: Globally, which are your major markets? How has your company been faring in the other Asian markets. GK: Our major target market are the countries which are big textile exporting countries like Turkey, Bangladesh, Sri lanka are the main focused areas. Colorjet has installed digital printing solutions in Asian markets like Bangladesh, Pakistan and SriLanka. Our major customer base comes from Surat, Delhi, Punjab and south of India.
KM: How do you look at the Indian inkjet digital printing market? What are its strengths and weaknesses and also the problems and prospects?
GK: In today´s scenario digital printing on textile is the fastest growing industry as most of the big fashion houses have already adapted this technology. We have seen that the core weakness is low production speed and high production cost which will be covered up in the<
