Italy is upbeat on China and India, and with its recent Green Label, is confident of making more inroads into the textile machinery markets in Asia.
China and India are the two power houses of Asia, and Italy sells the most in textile technology to these countries. Italian textile machinery export accounts for 84 per cent of its total production the highest for any European country, and 79 per cent of its export goes to China out of 44 per cent export happening in Asia. Of the 300 companies belonging to the ACIMIT, the turnover has touched Euro 2.9 billion in 2013,¨ said Raffaella Carabelli, President of ACIMIT, Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufactures.
Said Raffaella: ¨The beginning of 2014 was a bit difficult, with a fall of 10 per cent in business abroad, but there was a rise of 10 per cent business in the domestic market. The market improved later and the position is comfortable now and is expected to be better than last year when 2014 closes.¨ The ACIMIT chief laid greater emphasis on the Green Label, promoted by ACIMIT, the focus of which is on less power consumption, less water & chemicals. This eco-friendly label is expected to give a boost to the promotion of Italian technology since it guarantees certain advantages in the certified technologies,¨ explained Raffaella.
ACIMIT is already excited about the ITMA Milano, slated for November 2015.¨We have already booked for 154 exhibitors from Italy with a space of over 10,000 sq meters. This is nit final and there are more exhibitors preparing to go for space¨,¨ said the ACIMIT chief.
