China´s filament yarn export bucks trend
Data from China Customs showed that polyester filament yarn exports during September bucked the declining trend of August, climbing by 13.53 per cent, to 130, 661 tonnes, which was a jump of 23.74 per cent y-o-y too. Total shipments during the first three quarters of 2014 soared 27.36 per cent, versus the corresponding timeframe of a year earlier, to around 1.17 million tones.
Local analysts projected that exports may maintain their robust growth, as the plunge in feedstock prices has reduced polyester production costs significantly, reinforcing the competitive edge of China´s products on the global market.
Meanwhile, according to another report, shipments of yarn machinery to the textile industry in China plunged in 2013 and at the same time, shipments to the industry in Vietnam soared. These trends reflected an apparent shift in the sourcing of textiles and clothing from China to other countries in Asia, and Vietnam in particular, according to a new report from the global business information company Textiles Intelligence.
