IACC roadmap to achieve $100 bn in Indo-US textile trade
IACC Textile Forum in association with US Commercial Service, US Consulate, Mumbai organised a one day Conference on Textiles “America First & Make in India: Together Achieving USD 100 Billion Trade in Textiles” on Wednesday, 24th April, 2019 at The Hotel Taj Mahal Palace, Apollo Bunder, Colaba, Mumbai.
The objective of the Conference was to create, develop & grow bilateral partnership in textiles between USA & India. The conference identified potential areas to increase the scope for trade and promotion of niche sectors in textiles such as apparels, home textiles, technical textiles and textile machinery to enrich each other strengths and create enduring partnerships.
In order to promote joint investment and to support favorable trade partnership, there were representations from US Commercial Services and two States of USA, North Carolina & South Carolina.
The conference brought thought leaders, policy makers, textile stalwarts, and academicians to deliberate and thereby created a road map to deepen trade and investments between both nations, as well as created textile ethos & ambience which benefits America First and Make in India.
The theme was presented by a prominent business person Suresh Kotak Chairman IACC – Textile Forum. Important messages were given by Consul General Edgard D Kagan, Chairman of Welspun, Balkrishna Goenka, and President of Reliance, R D Udeshi. The Galaxy of eminent speakers representing companies like IndoCount, Sutlej, Tata Motors, SRTEPC and others deliberated upon various aspects of investment in select states of USA with respect to what does America buy and can buy in textiles, what is the current textile product basket from India, how to expand, diversify and develop and finally success stories of Indo-US bilateral investment in textiles. The deliberations was guided by leading textile consultant Arvind Sinha and . Harit Mehta.
The conference was successful in laying the roadmap to achieve $100 billion trade in textiles between the two nations in a decade.
