Textile production picks up
The monthly Index of Industrial Production for textiles increased 7.8 per cent in August this year compared with the same month last year. The cumulative index for textiles from April to August this year has also gone up marginally — 1.1 per cent — from a year earlier.

Textiles in the first six months grew at an average of 1.4 per cent and in the last six months of the FY, it accelerated at an average rate of 3.4 per cent.
Ups & downs in 2015
Global growth is forecast at 3.5 per cent in 2015 and 3.8 percent in 2016, with uneven prospects across the main countries and regions. Growth in emerging market economies is softening, reflecting an adjustment to diminished medium-term growth expectations and lower revenues from commodity exports, as well as country-specific factors.
