SIMA hails interim budget 2019-20

Boost for textiles exports
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Union Budget 2018-19 raised special package by 19 per cent to Rs 71.48 billion for apparel sector to boost exports. In 2016, the government had announced a special package of Rs 60 billion for the same purpose.

As textiles are a major export commodity from India, its textile industry needs adequate resources such as skilled and trained manpower, financial capital for both current capital and long-term infrastructure improvements, research and development, promotion and marketing efforts.
Enhanced MEIS & RoSL export benefits a huge relief: SIMA
The Government has increased the Merchandise Export from India Scheme (MEIS) from 2 per cent to 4 per cent for all garments and made-ups and also increased the upper limit of Remission of State Levies (RoSL) for the exports of cotton garments from 1.22 to 1.7 per cent and cotton made-ups from 1.55 per cent to 2.20 per cent.
SIMA Texfair ready to take off
The Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) has been organising the international textile machinery, accessories and spares exhibitions known as Texfair since the year 2001 for the mutual benefit of the supplier and user industries.
Coimbatore, known as the textile hub of Tamil Nadu, houses a large number of small, medium and large textile mills. It also has textile research institutes like the Central Institute for Cotton Research (CICR), South Indian Textiles Research Association (SITRA) and the Sardar Vallabhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management.
